Greater Noida, 10th January: On Friday, Birla Institute of Management Technology jointly organized an Interaction with Authors and Panel Discussion on “The Global Rule of Three – Competing with Conscious Strategy”, with Academy of Indian Marketing and EPSI in partnership with NHRDN, IILM and Founding Fuel. The event kick started with the Introduction of Panel by Mr. Jayant Shah and followed with the Welcome Address of Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH.
The book co-authored by Dr. Jagdish N. Sheth, Prof. Can Uslay & Prof. Raj Sisodia reveals and illustrates the Global Rule of Three phenomenon, which stipulates that in competitive markets only three companies (which the authors call “generalists”) can dominate the market. All other players in the market are specialists. Further, whereas the financial performance of generalists improves as market share increases, specialist companies see a decrease in financial performance as their market share increases, as the latter are margin-driven companies. This theory powerfully captures the evolution of global markets and what executives must do to succeed. It is based on empirical analyses of hundreds of markets and industries in the US and globally.
The book chronicles the global evolution and provides impactful managerial implications for executives and students of marketing and corporate strategy alike. The Panel discussion was moderated by Indrajit Gupta, Founding Head of Forbes India and now Co-founder and Director, Founding Fuel.
“Coming out of the current COVID crisis, many expect further industry consolidation across sectors. The Global Rule of Three lifts the curtain on what this future could look like. The book is packed with great insights into the dynamic forces shaping most industries: above all, that those who know how to truly serve will be the long term winners.” —Paul Polman, Co-Founder & Chair, IMAGINE and former CEO, Unilever.
After two decades of their book “Rule of Three”, Dr. Jagdish N. Sheth, Prof. Can Uslay & Prof. Raj Sisodia thought of “The Global Rule of Three” integrating Conscious Capitalism substance as a strategy for competing in the world market place and new revelations about how to survive, thrive and compete globally as world leaders. The panel discussion was followed with a Q&A session where panel answered some questions which surfaced during the discussion in the chat window. The discussion was concluded at 9:15 p.m. with closing remarks and Vote of Thanks by Dr. Anupam Verma, Deputy Director BIMTECH.
