BIMTECH Launches Yunus Social Business Centre to Promote Social Business

Greater Noida, 3 November 2022: On Wednesday, BIMTECH Greater Noida launched Yunus Social Business Centre, which has been named after a Bangladeshi social entrepreneur, banker, economist and civil society leader, Muhammad Yunus, who has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for founding the Grameen Bank and pioneering the concepts of microcredit and microfinance.

The centre aims to spread awareness about social business in the society by educating people about social business, building a social business community of researchers, practitioners and academicians and by nurturing social values among the youth.

During his address at the launch event, BIMTECH Director Dr. H. Chaturvedi hailed Muhammad Yunus and his contributions and also the Yunus Social Business Centre team for coming up with this initiative.

The guests for this launch event were Mukta Ghoshal, Sustainable Ambassador and V.K. Madhavan, CEO, Water Aid. In a panel discussion with Prof. A. Sahay, chairperson of Yunus Social Business Centre, both of them shared their respective journeys and inspired the students present at the venue to embrace social business.

 

Speaking to Ten News, Mukta Ghoshal, Sustainable Ambassador said, “There are a lot of opportunities in sustainability space and a lot of NGOs are coming up and tuning on sustainable development missions. I would love to add more value in such initiativeness of every young mastermind. It is not too far that we can turn India into a leading sustainable country.”
