Delhi, August 17th, 2022: BJP on Wednesday launched a social media campaign called ‘Desh ki Badli Soch’ campaign wherein it is comparing speeches and actions of PM Modi and his predecessors.
The party on its Twitter handle shared many graphics quoting parts of speeches made by Modi and his predecessors Manmohan Singh, Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru to project its leader in a positive light.
In one such tweet, it was shown that Nehru did not pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of the 1962 war with China, and another video shows that Modi in his 2020 address paid tribute to the soldiers and their sacrifices.
Citing another such example, it is shown that Manmohan Singh in his speeches from 2008 and 2009 allegedly remembered only a few specific idols, thus appealing to a family whereas Modi in his 2014 speech mentioned all the previous prime ministers and their efforts.
Targeting Indira Gandhi, a video shed light on Indira Gandhi’s patronizing attitude towards the poor in her 1974 speech, whereas Modi in 2019 expressed faith in their spirit, praises their courage, and promises to do his best to end poverty.
Several other posts portrayed the Congress leaders as evading their responsibility, not respecting citizens, not providing necessary details to the public whereas Modi on the other hand was shown as assuming responsibility, expressing faith and confidence in people, and sharing all important details and figures with the people of India.
There was heavy criticism from Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and other members of the party for launching such a campaign and accused BJP of being a “self-obsessed” government and “trivializing” the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
