Carving Success in stone, Rajasthan focuses on opportunities in Machine sector

Jaipur, 18th June 2020: A major center of the Stone Processing Machine manufacturing, Rajasthan sets focus on R & D, Collaborations, and Transfer of Technology in the development of indigenous technology. Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation Ltd. (RIICO) during an online interaction with representatives from Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Wednesday (June 17, 2020) expressed support to the industrialists in the process and insisted them to associate reputed institutions like IITS, NITs and Academia in the state for R&D. The web interaction organised by Centre for Development of Stones (CDOS) along with FICCI was supported by RIICO.

“Indian machinery sector has made fast progress but Rajasthan has emerged as a major centre of the Stone Processing Machine manufacturing in India and this need to be leveraged further,” MD RIICO, Mr. Ashutosh A.T. Pednekar expressed on the objectives of the industry representative meet.

RIICO, being a state government subsidiary is actively holding online interactions to promote investment opportunities in the state in the post COVID scenario. The efforts have been drawing the support of industrialists and investors from the state and abroad and turning the challenge posed by the pandemic in opportunities for the indigenous manufacturing sector.

While talking about policy initiatives of the State Government, MD RIICO informed about Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS)-2019 and urged the entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the scheme which is most attractive in the country in terms of subsidies on offer. He has also informed about the Plug and Play Scheme for the new entrepreneurs where no investment is required to be made for land and building and any unit can start work easily or wind up, if required, with a lock-in period of just 6 months. Considering the importance and leadership position of Rajasthan in stone machinery manufacturing, he assured all possible support to entrepreneurs.

Other speakers touched upon various pertinent issues relating to challenges being faced by the industry and steps to overcome them, likely impact on the sector in post COVID era, opportunities in terms of India’s potential to capture the world market especially in Gulf countries and other developing countries, focus on after-sales service, the scope for CNC machines, Ease of Doing Business, providing incentives on the import of technology or parts of machines to accelerate the growth, emphasis on manufacturing Diamond Segments and Steel Blade, issues relating to standardisation and reliable supply of spares, focus on In-house R & D, new product development and innovations to move forward.

The speakers echoed that future outlook for Indian stone working machinery is very bright and the industry is moving in the right direction of growth.
