CAT 2019: IIM Kozhikode extends last registration date for the examination

Kozhikode: The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Kozhikode has extended the last date of registration for CAT 2019. It is the organizing authority for CAT exam this year. The last date of registration process for the exam was due on September 18, i.e. today, but the institute extended it up to September 25, 2019. The candidates now have the liberty to complete their registration process for Common Admission Test (CAT) till 5:00 pm on September 25.

IIMs will also release the CAT percentile Calculation Method on September 25 for the candidates appearing for the examination.



The convenor of CAT 2019, Prof. Shubhasis Dey explained the reason behind the extension in press release. He said the decision to extend the registration date was taken considering the disruptions caused by the natural calamities and the difficulty faced by the candidates in procuring the necessary documents for the registration.

The registration process for CAT application in divided into four steps. First of all, the candidates need to register to generate login credentials, then login to their candidate’s profile, fill application form, and finally pay the application fee.

The application fee for CAT 2019 varies for different categories, General/EWS/NC-OBC candidate is entitled to pay Rs. 1900 while SC/ST/PwD candidates have to pay Rs. 950. The final amount to be paid may be different, as it will also include applicable additional charges.

The admit cards for CAT 2019 examination will be released on October 23, 2019 and the exam will be held on November 24, 2019.

CAT 2019 examination is a computer-based test of 3 hours duration. The question paper of the exam is divided into three sections – Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Section III: Quantitative Ability (QA).

The time allotted to attempt each section is one hour and during the time candidates will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section. The question paper will comprise of both multiple-choice questions and direct-answer type questions.
