Child recovering from stomach surgery gets cockroach in meal at AIIMS, enquiry ordered

New Delhi, 15 November 2022: AIIMS, Delhi has started an investigation into an allegation that a cockroach was discovered in the meal supplied to a young patient admitted to the institute on Monday.

This came after a video surfaced revealing the incident after posting specifics and images. It was insisted that the dal given to the four-year-old patient contained a cockroach. “Pathetic and frightening state of affairs at the most prestigious Medical facility in National Capital- Serving “Cockroach Daal” to a 4-year-old as first meal post major stomach surgery @aiims_newdelhi Shocked beyond belief,” it said.

An official source responded to the tweet by stating that “Hospital officials have made a serious note of the event and are looking into the matter.”

 

The patient’s mother revealed that it was the first meal her son had after having a rare intestinal surgery. “It was my son’s third operation. When I noticed the cockroach, I brought up the issue with the doctors and personnel who were on hand, and as a result, the dietary department repeatedly apologised,” she continued.

The mother stated that although she has the best regard for the medical professionals and workers at the facility who have assisted in her son’s recovery, a significant improvement in the food quality is required.

“I ordered something from a cloud kitchen after watching the meal, and it was much better than the cuisine food at the AIIMS. I can buy it from outside, but what about people who can’t?” she questioned.
