CM MEETS UNION MINISTERS IN NEW DELHI

Chief Minister of Rajasthan Smt. Vasundhra
Raje during her Delhi visit met Union Minister for Water Resources Ms.
Uma Bharti, Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways,
Shri Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare
Shri J.P. Nadda on Wednesday. Smt. Raje strongly raised the issues of
the interest of Rajasthan which are pending centre level and urged the
Union Ministers to resolve the issues on priority basis.
During her meeting with Union Water Resource Minister Ms. Uma Bharti,
Smt. Raje urged Union Minister to take necessary action for early
constitution of a Special Bench on Presidential Reference in Ravi-Beas
Water issues. She said a proposal for enhancing the capacity of Head
Regulator of Indira Gandhi Feeder at Harike Barrage is pending with
the Punjab Government. She urged to Govt of India to issue directions
to Punjab Government to enhance the capacity of Head Regulator of IGF
at Harike to 18,500 cusecs from its present capacity of 15,000 cusecs.
Smt. Raje urged the Union Minister for Water Resources that Govt. of
India makes efforts and persuades the Government of Haryana to make
consensus on MoU signed between Haryana and Rajasthan. She urged that
the Centre intervenes so that Rajasthan gets its share in Yamuna Water
from Tajewala & Okhala head works of Yamuna River. She also asked for
90 percent central assistance for 85 blocks of 16 districts of
Rajasthan under Desert Development Programme. She said approval must
be given to remaining 36 schemes of the state under Repair, Renovation
& Restoration (RRR) of Water Bodies with Domestic Support scheme of
GoI on priority basis and asked for central assistance.
The Union Minister said Rajasthan Chief Minister has strongly put
forward various issues of Rajasthan including drinking water and
irrigation. She said efforts will be made by the centre to settle
these issues on priority basis.
More Central Assistance Required for Development of Roads:
During her meeting with Union Shipping, Road Transport and Highways
Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari, Smt. Raje urged for more central
assistance for strengthening and renovation of roads in the State. She
said Budget allotment under NH (OR) needs to be enhanced for the State
from present allotment of Rs. 14.87 Crore to Rs. 75 Crore. She said
without developing roads the pace of development could not be
accelerated as roads are the main basis of connectivity.
Smt. Raje said Government of India is requested to issue direction to
NHAI to maintain the roads entrusted to them through Gazette
Notification immediately after Notification. She also urged that NHAI
should be directed to reimburse the expenditure made by the state
government on maintenance of the National Highways. She also said that
directions should be issued to expedite 10 National Highway road
projects which were assigned to NHAI.
After meeting she said Union Road Transport and Highways Minister has
assured her to solve the problems related to road development.
Central Assistance Required for Cancer Care Centres and Medical Colleges:
During her meeting with Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare
Shri J. P. Nadda, Smt. Raje urged to provide central assistance of Rs.
120 crore for establishing the proposed State Cancer Institute in
Jaipur and Rs. 45 crore each for two other proposed Regional Cancer
Care Centres in Bikaner and Jhalawar.
Smt. Raje also asked for the assistance for the proposed plan to open
super specialty wing in medical colleges of Bikaner, Kota and Udaipur.
There will be a cost sharing between Govt. of India, Govt of
Rajasthan. The GoI will provide 75% share of cost of establishing the
centre.
