New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS) A complaint was filed against AAP legislator Sarita Singh for taking a bribe of Rs 9 lakh from party workers on the pretext of providing them government jobs, police said on Saturday.

According to police, three complainants, including Shakeel Ahmed, president of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) minority wing in northeast Delhi’s Rohtas Nagar, approached them on Saturday evening alleging that they had paid a bribe of Rs 9 lakh to the MLA four months ago for getting a government job.

A senior police officer said that the complaint is under enquiry and investigation is on.

Ahmed told IANS that he and two others had “paid Rs nine lakh to her in April this year, a week before her marriage, for the government job to three persons.”

He said he, along with M. Hussain, also a party worker, and Rashid had paid Rs 3 lakh each.

“She had promised a government job with the Delhi government with a handsome salary between Rs 30,000-40,000 per month for three candidates,” Ahmed said.

“We have approached police and also written to Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung, Election Commission of India, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and several officers of the Delhi Police against the MLA after she failed to provide the job and refused to return the money,” he added.

Ahmed also alleged that she had started abusing them and threatening them with dire consequences whenever they approached her.

“Whenever I enquired for the job, she abused me and said that she will file a false complaint against me,” he said.
