The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has taken an initiative to tackle the problem of solid waste management in the city as there remains an absence of functional dump yard in the are.

Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority has decided to setup composting machines in each sectors which will be used to locally treat bi-degradable waste being generated by houses of the sector.
The tender formalities for hiring an agency for the same is under process.

According to authority officials, the compost machines will convert the kitchen waste to make manure.

“We are aiming to resolve the garbage issue of the city sectors as well as preparing the manure for to be used in green areas during the process. We aim to initially install such setup in the populated sectors of Greater Noida however with time it will expand to other regions as well,” said B K Tripathi, additional CEO (ACEO), GNIDA.

In this process the segregation of the process will be done at the source itself and hence the logistic issues of transferring to a dump yard will be resolved. Awareness drives to encourage residents regarding segregation of dry and wet waste will also be done.

It must be noted that Noida Authority has already issued a Directive to different RWA’s, market associations and gated communities to ensure disposal of locally generated waste within the community itself.
