NEW DELHI, Jan. 3 – Thousands of Congress workers attended a workers’ convention held at the Mustafabad Assembly constituency in East Delhi today, under the leadership of Shri Hassan Ahmed as part of the party’s election campaign in the run-up to the coming Assembly elections. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Shri Arvinder Singh was the chief guest at the convention. Ex-MLA Mateen Ahmed, Shakeel Saifi, Bhisham Sharma, minority leader Mehdi Majid, Municipal Councillor Taj Mohammed, Mohd. Marookh and Israt Jehan were also present.

Shri Arvinder Singh, addressing the convention, said the people of Delhi have fully understood the real face of AAP party convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal, as the AAP was the B Team of the BJP. He said the sole purpose of the AAP in fighing the election was to cut into the votes of the Congress Party to help the BJP. Shri Arvinder Singh said the recent communal clashes in Trilokpuri had inflicted terrible losses on the people living there, and the BJP leaders and Shri Kejriwal had no time to spare to console the affected people in Trilokpuri. He said only the Congress leaders, under his leadership, had reached there to console the affected people in Trilokpuri, as the Congress party shared their grief in their hour of crisis. He said what happened at the Rangpuri Pahari, where hundreds of jhuggis were demolished at the direction of the BJP Government at the Centre to leave women and children under an open sky during one of the coldest winter days, could not be concealed from the eyes of the people. He said Congress vice-president Shri Rahul Gandhi, along with several Congress leaders, rushed to the venue, and shared the grief of the affected people, and consoled them. Shri Arvinder Singh said, following Shri Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Rangpuri, the Lt. Govenor had issued an order not to displace the poor people living there, which was due to the efforts of the Congress party.

Ch. Mateen Ahmed and Minority Cell chairman Khurshid Ahmed said the RSS was spreading venom in the country, and the BJP leaders were trying to divide the country on communal and casteist lines. They said the policies of the BJP and the AAP party were against the interest of the poor people, and appealed to the people to vote for the Congress party in the coming Delhi Assembly elections as only a Congress Government could ensure the interest of all sections of people.

Shri Hassan Ahmed said the kind of development works carried out by the Congress party in Mustafabad could not be matched by any other party. He said roads in all the unauthorized colonies in Mustafabad were paved with concrete, and people were being provided all the civic amenities in the area.
