Greater Noida (17 April 2025): The 59th edition of the IHGF Delhi Fair, organized by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), commenced today at the India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida. The fair, taking place from April 16 to 19, 2025, was inaugurated by Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Textiles, Government of India. Following the inauguration, the Minister visited the exhibition halls and interacted with several participants, acknowledging their efforts and contributions to the country’s handicrafts sector.

The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) is the nodal agency responsible for the promotion of exports of handicrafts from India. Its mission is to showcase the “magic of the gifted hands” of millions of artisans and crafts persons involved in creating home décor, lifestyle products, textiles, furniture, fashion jewellery, and accessories across numerous craft clusters in India. According to Mr. R. K. Verma, Executive Director of EPCH, the estimated provisional exports of handicrafts for the financial year 2024–25 amounted to Rs. 33,490.79 Crores (US $3,959.86 Million).

In an exclusive conversation with Ten News, one of the prominent exhibitors at the fair, Mr. C.P. Sharma from Garud Fabs LLP, shared insights about his company’s participation and the products on display.

Introducing the Company and Products

When asked to introduce his company and the showcased products, Mr. Sharma said,
Mainly, we are showcasing handmade and machine-made bedspreads. We started our company in 1991 at Noida, and now we are based in Noida, Panipat, and have one more factory in Delhi. Our specialization is in bedding items, which we have been producing since 1991. We manufacture using machine quilting, automatic quilting, and single-needle coating embroidery machines to reduce costs. Our objective is to increase export volume from India and attract business that is currently going to China. That’s why we focus on production efficiency.

He further explained,
We are displaying only machine-quilted products made from cotton velvet, pure cotton, micro, polyester, and other fabrics. We use cotton micro, pure cotton for filling, depending on the buyer’s needs. We produce bedding in all sizes, including pillow covers and cushion covers. All dyes used are eco-friendly and safe for the skin. That’s why we are committed to displaying only export-quality fabrics.

What Sets Their Products Apart

Explaining what makes their products unique in the global handicrafts market, Mr. Sharma said, It’s the add-on work. Along with quilting, we do embroidery work using different fabrics and threads. This enhances the designs and makes them special. Because of this, our products are giving strong competition to Chinese products.

Export Reach and International Interest

Speaking about international interest, Mr. Sharma shared, We mainly export to France, Belgium, Spain, and Italy. But now, we are getting a good opportunity to export to the US as well. EPCH has given us a very good platform through this fair. Amid tariff wars and global trade shifts, India has a great opportunity. Many US buyers and agents have shown interest and made inquiries. Enquiry is the first step, and we are offering matching fabric sizes and quantities. This fair will be very useful for all participants.

EPCH’s Role in Brand Promotion and Global Reach

Praising the EPCH for its continuous support, Mr. Sharma said, EPCH is our council, and we are very thankful to them. Among the 16 export promotion councils in India, EPCH is the best. They have excellent marketing strategies, inviting buyers from targeted countries, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Starting from the entrance, you can see how well they’ve designed the layout to attract buyers. Exhibitors are also showcasing beautiful designs and colour combinations.

He added, EPCH has provided excellent facilities here at the fair – from five-star hotels to seamless logistics at the Greater Noida fairground, which is a well-established venue. EPCH is truly helping all exporters and providing great opportunities. Under Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making India the third-largest economy, EPCH is doing commendable work.

The 59th IHGF Delhi Fair continues to serve as a major platform for Indian handicraft exporters to connect with global buyers, showcase innovation, and elevate India’s position in the global handicrafts market.
