Cyber Security Expert ASP Dr. Triveni Singh shares cyber security tips for students and parents!

UP STF ASP Dr. Triveni Singh was in Greater Noida on Saturday to take part in Samsara The World Academy Annual Day function as chief guest.

He made best use of the occasion and shared cyber security tips with the audience. He also spoke to Ten News and talked about different facades of cyber-crime and what makes it tough to crack in comparison to conventional crime.

Addressing the students he said, “After joining the police force, I took special interest in field of cyber-crime. I did PhD in Cyber-crime, did many courses in cyber law, computers, cyber forensic etc. It has been a pleasant journey becoming a cyber-expert now”.

 

Stressing on importance of having sound knowledge of cybercrime he said, “Knowledge about cybercrime is significant for all. Everything has gone online. All of us use online banking, social media websites etc. We communicate with thousands and thousands through social media”.

On students and families being targeted by cyber criminals he said, “Now criminals have come on cyber space. They have come on cloud networks. People are being targeted through usage of social media. Students are being impacted adversely; families are being destroyed due to wrongful usage of internet”.

About law penalties under cybercrime provisions he informed, “There is a minimum 3 year imprisonment for sending threats or wrongful message through internet. Parents need to be watchful of their internet activities”.

He also had a word of caution for the children when he asked them to stay vigilant and not to befriend strangers though internet.

He said, “Children should be aware of not falling prey to cyber stalking. Cyber security and cyber hygiene are important factors to stay alert in modern age. Awareness is the key to stay vigilant and keep oneself protected from cybercrime”.
