NEW DELHI (20/01/2020): Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Chopra welcomed many leaders from other political parties into the Congress fold at a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan today. The leaders and workers from other political are lining up to join the Congress party after watching the massive swing of people’s support to the Congress party with the fight for the Delhi Assembly elections heating up. Matia Mahal Assembly ward Aam Aadmi Party Municipal Councillor Rakesh Kumar and 35 of his supporters today joined the Congress in the presence of Subhash Chopra as they were fed up with the autocratic style of functioning of Arvind Kejriwal without giving any attention to development works. Subhash Chopra offered them the Congress scarfs to enroll them in the party. Chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma, Congress candidate for the Matia Mahal Assembly seat Javed Mirza, district president Mohammed Usman, former Municipal Councillor Ashok Jain and Congress Councillor Seema Tahira were also present.

Subhash Chopra, addressing the media and the newly joined leaders and workers, slammed the Aam Aadmi Party for totally neglecting the people of Delhi and issues affecting the people in the last five years. He said that Kejriwal has not spoken up on the Citizenship Amendment Act and the attacks on the students of Jamia and JNU when they were being attacked, and his stony silence was proof enough that AAP was in league with the BJP on the issue. Chopra said that AAP and BJP were supporting each other but in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the people of Delhi will teach both these parties an unforgettable lesson for betraying them, and will not allow their secret plan of communal polarization. He said that scared by the overwhelming support the Congress is getting from the people, Kejriwal is making “jumla” promises like the Modi Government to fool the people. He said that the people of Delhi will never again believe Kejriwal’s promises as all his past promises have proved to be hollow and blatant lies.

Chopra said that the Kejriwal Government has been an unmitigated disaster in addressing the power, water, development and pollution problems, and he cannot now show his face to the people to make ‘jumla’ announcements any more. Chopra repeated his earlier announcement that if Congress came to power, then it will give a relief package of up to 600 units of power, which will be included in the party manifesto. He reiterated his earlier stand that the Congress will not only retain the 20,000 litres free water scheme, but will go several steps ahead by giving cash-back incentive of 30 paise per litre of water saved from the free water scheme to conserve water for the future.

Mukesh Sharma asked the Modi Government at the Centre and the Kejriwal Government in Delhi to declare how much money the Delhi Development Authority has collected from those 20 residents of unauthorized colonies, who have been given registry, for conveyance deeds in the name of handing over them ownership rights. He said that over 40 lakh people live in unauthorized colonies and if the scheme was so transparent, then why have only 70,000 people applied for registration, and why they have not been given registry. He said that why this drama when no election code of conduct can be enforced on on-going schemes. He said that people are now sure to boycott both BJP and AAP in the Assembly elections they have only lied and misled Delhiites.
