New Delhi, 21 September 2022: The Delhi court recently rejected the intervention request made by a man claiming to be the heir to Agra’s royal family and seeking ownership of Qutub Minar.

The appeal made by Kunwar Mahendra Dhwaj Prasad Singh, who claimed to be the heir of the unified province of Agra and demanded sovereignty over lands from Meerut to Agra, was rejected by Additional District Judge Dinesh Kumar.

However, the original applicant’s attorney Amita Sachdeva, said during the hearing that the case is merely a public gimmick and the plea should be rejected with harsh penalties.

On the other hand, the petitioner claims to be a member of the Beswan family, the successor to Raja Rohini Raman Dhawaj Prasad Singh, and a descendant of Raja Nand Ram, who passed away in 1695, according to Singh’s argument.

According to the plea, British India and its provinces attained freedom and independence in 1947 under Raja Rohini Raman Dhawaj Prasad Singh.

The petitioner countered that following India’s acquisition of independence in 1947, the Indian government didn’t sign any treaties, accede to any other countries, or come to any agreements with the ruling dynasty.

“The Central government, the state government of Delhi and state government of Uttar Pradesh without due process of law encroached upon the legal rights of the applicant and misused the power,” it was further claimed.
