New Delhi, 19 June 2022: The Delhi Government has planned to start an e-portal on June 22 to offer financial incentives for buying electric cycles.
Previously, the government had accepted the first set of cycle models that passed the eligibility for Rs 5500 subsidy. Later, Rs 2000 incentives were given to the first 1000 consumers.
While Rs 15000 have been decided as the maximum incentive for the purchase of the first 5000 cargo e-cycles and additional Rs 2000 for the purchase of 1000 e-cycles.
According to sources, it has been planned that a person can get the incentive for only one cycle after they give proof of their residence in New Delhi. After which the application of the incentive will be initiated by the dealer and the funds will be transferred to the buyer’s account associated with their aadhar card.
The Principal Secretary and Transport Commissioner of the Delhi Government, Ashish Kundra has stated that the e-cycle dealers and the original equipment manufacturers will be given the login details to the portal on Monday and after the sale, the incentive application will be done by that dealer. Following this, the subsidy will be credited in 7-10 working days.
Although the cycles will not have registered numbers, they will have a unique code by the transport department for easy access to the battery number, model and so on.
