Delhi likely to report 17K new Covid cases on Sunday; positivity rate likely to decline: Satyendra Jain

New Delhi, January 16: With the positivity rate in Delhi getting stagnant at 30.64% and with the decline in cases, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Sunday said that the capital is expected to see 17,000 cases on Sunday & the positivity rate in the City is also expected to decline.
Jain said, “About 17,000 COVID cases expected today with case positivity also expected to decline.”
He added that cases declining for the 3rd consecutive day if we see yesterday’s numbers.
Moreover, talking about the number of COVID patients hospitalized in Delhi, he stated, “Hospital admissions have plateaued, Covid positivity rate will also come down.”
He said that restrictions by the Delhi government halted the spread of COVID-19. “Restrictions by Delhi govt impacted the spread of COVID-19, will monitor the situation for three to four day before reviewing curbs.” said, Jain
He further said, About 67,000 tests were done yesterday; Conducting 3 times the tests recommended by ICMR
A decline in COVID cases can be seen in the Capital, as on Saturday 20,718 new cases were reported whereas on Friday 24,383 new cases were reported in Delhi.
The active caseload in the Capital is 93,407.
Moreover, earlier this week Jain said that the Hospital Admission rate has stabilized, which indicates COVID cases may go down soon.
