DELHI POLICE CRIME UPDATE – EXTORTIONIST ARRESTED – EMANDED RS.5 LAKHS FROM AN ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF DELHI UNIVERSITY.

 DEMANDED RS.5 LAKHS FROM AN ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF
DELHI UNIVERSITY.
 MOBILE HANDSET AND SIM USED FOR EXTORTION RECOVERED.

A team of officers of the Crime Branch led by Insp. Sandeep Malhotra and consisting of SI Pramod Kumar, SI Nagender, Hc shiv veer, HC Brahampal, HC Amit, HC Pawan, HC Om Parkash, Hc Ramesh Chander, Ct Ravinder Malik, Ct. Ravinder Khokhar, Ct Rajeev Sajrawat. Ct Neeraj Pandey and Ct Naresh under the supervision of ACP Sh. Hoshiyar Singh and under the overall supervision of Sh. Bhisham Singh, DCP has apprehended an extortionist involved in extorting money from an Assistant Professor of Delhi University. In this connection, on the complaint of Assistant professor, a case of extortion was registered at PS- Maurice Nagar.

An information was received that a person involved in extortion will come to Mehrauli Badarpur Road. On this information, a trap was laid and accused Atish Ranjan @ Trilochan kumar @ Sumit s/o Awdhesh kumar verma r/o sangam vihar, Delhi was apprehended. On interrogation, it was found that accused is the nephew of the Assistant Professor at Delhi University and had been making extortion calls and demanding Rs 5 lakhs, as he was in dire economic distress and in financial crisis while his uncle was financially sound. The extortionist posed himself as a gangster to threaten the Assistant Professor.
The mobile phone and the SIM card used for threatening the Assistant Professor has been recovered. He has been arrested under appropriate sections of law and local police has been informed.

Atish Ranjan @ Sumit @ Trilochan Singha S/o Sh. Awadesh Kumar was born in Patna, Bihar and completed his 12th from Patna, Bihar and B.sc(Graduation) from Jharkhand. After completing his graduation, he joined 2 years DOEAC “O” Level Computer Course at Patna, Bihar and later on also worked as a faculty in the same institute. Thereafter, he worked in BPO, MNS Company at Patna. In 2010, he came to Delhi and started living at Sangam Vihar, Delhi. In Delhi, he worked in a Bank as Sales Executive for 6 months and thereafter at a Company in Mathura Road, Delhi. In the year 2012, he changed his job profile and started providing waiters for functions etc. In the year 2013, he was in deep financial crises and therefore he planned to extort money.
