New Delhi (India), April 6, 2023: On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, the Delhi Police has allowed the Shobha Yatra in the Jahangirpuri area within a limited distance.

The police have already made elaborate security arrangements in the area ahead of the festival. Earlier, Delhi Police had denied permission to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and another group to undertake processions in the same area on April 6.

The police department had discussions with the organizing committee of the Shobha Yatra and appealed to them to follow the law and maintain order while taking out the procession. The authorities had also warned against any violation of the law.

It is worth noting that last year, on April 16, clashes broke out between two communities during a Shobha Yatra in the Jahangirpuri area.

Taking cognizance of the recent violence that erupted in West Bengal and Bihar during the Ram Navami procession, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an advisory to all states to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful observance of the festival.

The government has urged states to monitor any factors that could disturb communal harmony in society. The advisory has been sent to the chief secretaries and directors general of police of all states.
