Delhi police to intensify petrolling inside metro to check obscene activities

New Delhi, 16th May 2023: Delhi metros would now be patrolled by officials from the Delhi Police in plain clothes.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation decided to take this step to increase security after some indecent videos of motorcyclists have sparked uproar in recent weeks. Jitendra Mani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro), stated that “those found indulging in any obscene activities” within or near the metro will face stern legal action.

Police authorities dressed in plain clothes have successfully kept a strict eye on station movements. The task is being undertaken with Central Industrial Security Force officials.

Social media had erupted into a storm after several videos of passengers behaving in ‘obscene’ activities came into light.
