New Delhi, 16th May 2023: The British media outlets reported that Indian officials plan to launch a repatriation campaign asking for the return of artefacts from the colonial era.

The artefacts include the Kohinoor diamond and a couple other Indian traditional idols and sculptures are scattered across museums in the United Kingdom.

‘The Daily Telegraph’ claims that the subject is of priority for the Narendra Modi-led government, which is likely to escalate into a full-fledged diplomatic campaign.

The Archaeological Survey of India is speculated to have taken lead on this project and is spearheading discussions to reclaim the objects that were ‘trafficked’ out the country during the colonial era.
