Demands for #Gorkhaland reverbs in New Delhi again

Demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland today resounded at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The protestors with slogans painted on their bare chests were locked in chains. “The chains signify the atrocities that government has been commiting towards Gorkha people,” a protestor said.

An indigenous ethnic group has been demanding a separate state within India since 2013 after Congress government passed a resolution for the formation of the state of Telangana.

The agitation has been demanding bifurcation of the state of West Bengal and formation of Gorkhaland.
