DICCI unveils Covid impact report, outlines recommendation to kick-start economy

Dalit Indian Chamber of commerce and industry has unveiled a Covid impact series focused on the service sector.

According to the report, the contact intensive services sector was severely impacted due to the pandemic, particularly the sub-sectors
such as tourism, aviation, and hospitality. The first half of FY 2020-21 saw services sector contract by almost 16 per cent.

“It is pertinent to note that while the services sector contracted by over 20 per cent in the first quarter (Q1) of FY 2020-21, the contraction narrowed to 11.4 per cent in the second quarter (Q2) of FY 2020-21,” notes the report which is an outcome of the thought Process of Dr. Milind Kamble.

The report not only outlines challenges but also presents solutions in form of recommendations that can help restart the economic activities.

The recommendations include integrated service and product sector, continued financial support and tap into digital economy led opportunities.

The report also explores different sectors such as banking, financial and insurance sector, education, fitness, legal, tourism among others.

In the education sector it points towards the digital divide and proposes mark based grading and competence based grading.

Similarly, in all other sectors too it suggests measures to combat issues arising out of Covid induced lockdown.
