In a letter to the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, the Progressive Community Foundation (PCF) of Noida registered their grievance about the difficulty that the residents are facing in getting a hospital bed for Covid patients despite ample availability.

The letter said that there are around 1750 beds for Covid Patients across Gautam Buddha Nagar, out of which 1000 are currently in use and 750 are vacant. Still, the patients / relatives are facing difficulties in getting beds at hospitals, particularly at the private ones. The PCF urged the DM to provide regular updates / daily update regarding bed’s availability across the district, via a government portal, a daily press release or via administration’s twitter handle.

The PCF also raised some other key issues that are creating nuisance and scare among Covid patients and their attendants. One among them was the delay in getting RT PCR test report.

The letter said that the residents are facing a lot of issues in getting the RTPCR test done and getting the report on time which is causing fear and affecting the treatment. “Government hospitals are taking anywhere between 2 to 4 days to generate RT PCR test report, whereas most of the private hospitals, labs are giving next day appointment for the test and taking 24-48 hours to generate report.”

The letter also urged the DM to instruct hospitals to directly provide the Remdesivir injection. Currently, private hospitals are asking patient attendants to get the Remdesivir injection, which is causing a lot of trouble.
