Internet and Mobile Association of India is organising 12th India Digital Summit in New Delhi and the Inagural session witnessed an exciting discussion on Digital India : A Trillion Dollar Economy by 2022.

IAMAI Chairman & Vice-President, Google India & South-East Asia Rajan Anandan delivered the theme address and Hotstar CEO, Hotstar Ajit Mohan gave the lead talk. Thereafter the two lead personalities of digital media joined on in a discussion with MD & CEO of Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Neeraj Roy.

The informative session witnessed amazing insights being shared by the eminent speakers on rise of digital in New India.

Sharing an interesting statistic Hotar CEO Ajit Mohan said, “The data consumption in tier-3 cities for Hotstar has grown exponentially in recent times and this is hinting towards Democratization of Data in India. With telecom sector becoming more competitive and data becoming more and affordable, the trend would further widen and increase”.

Talking about audience apprehension for paying for content he said, “As data becomes more affordable people would be more open to pay for content on digital platforms. We are already witnessing a surge and we are hopeful that with time more and more people would realise the significance of premium content”.

Google India and South East Asia VP and IAMAI Chairman Rajan Anandan said, “Digital content is being consumed all over India at a rapid never seen before rate and this revolution is here to stay. The players in this field have to diversify to cater to more and more audience. Education and health sector has lot of opportunities and will be tapped in coming years”.

 


Hot star CEO Ajit Mohan further added, “The opportunity in Education sector to take learning deep inside the country through Digital mediums is massive and it can be utilised in a dramatic fashion in upcoming 10 years”.
