Doorstep waste collection in Trans-Hindon by May
Ghaziabad: Door-to-door collection of municipal solid waste is likely to commence in Ghaziabad later this year. GMC will table a proposal to implement the system across the city at a board meeting scheduled to be held on March 18.The project will commence in the Trans-Hindon areas of Vaishali, Vasundhara, Kaushambi and Sahibabad industrial area.A Noida-based private company has already been shortlisted for the job through a tendering process.”A proposal has been made to implement the system in all areas of Ghaziabad. It will be placed before the board for its approval.
A methodology to cover the entire city in a phased manner is expected to be formulated by the board. We intend to cover the entire city under the project before the end of this year. Door-to-door waste collection in the four areas already selected will, however, commence within the next two months,” additional municipal commissioner D K Sinha told TOI.The project has been undertaken by the municipal corporation through a public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
