Dowry death: #BSP MP’s bail plea to be heard today
Ghaziabad: The bail application of BSP Rajya Sabha MP Narendra Kashyap will come up before the district judge of Ghaziabad on Monday. Kashyap, his wife Devendri and son Sagar were sent to 14 days’ judicial custody by the chief judicial magistrate of Ghaziabad on April 7.
The trio had been booked after Kashyap’s 32-year-old daughter-in-law, Himanshi, died in mysterious circumstances at their residence on April 6. “The bail application has been scheduled for hearing on Monday. The case diary and the forensic report will be crucial in determining whether bail should be granted,” said Kashyap’s counsel Rakesh Tyagi.
The three members of the Kashyap family, from among the six named as accused in the FIR, are lodged in Dasna jail of Ghaziabad. Three other members – Kashyap’s younger son and his two daughters – have not been arrested so far.
“The police have not arrested the rest of the accused despite repeated demands. We will oppose Kashyap’s bail application by all means. A number of lawyers in Ghaziabad refused to help us given the tremendous clout that Kashyap enjoys in the city. We also fear for our security in Ghaziabad and expect the police to ensure protection for us,” Himanshi’s father Hira Lal Kashyap said.
