DPS Greater Noida hosts exhilarating debates on national and geopolitical issues

Greater Noida, 24th August: Having successfully conducted fruitful and fervent debates since 2014, Delhi Public School, Greater Noida organized the eighth edition of Annual Model United Nations PAXMUN: Justice en la Conferencia on August 23 and 24, 2022.

This year’s PAXMUN provided a platform for like-minded people to interact and present their ideologies on the pressing matters of the 21st-century geopolitical world. PAXMUN had a panel of experienced
Executive Board members, with 380 delegates and a secretariat comprising determined and hardworking students.

The two-day conference commenced with an opening ceremony. Prof. Mohan Kumar, retired Indian Foreign Service Officer of 1981 Batch, currently Chairperson of RIS graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Sandhya Awasthi, Principal, DPS Greater Noida, emphasized on how one can avoid wars with a few well-placed words and encouraged the participants to contribute with the same enthusiasm.

After the insightful words, the delegates went to their specific committees. This year PAXMUN conducted five standing committees along with International Press: United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Human Rights Council, World Economic Forum, United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice; and The Lok Sabha.

The ‘United Nations General Assembly’ had the duty of deliberating upon the unlawful occupation of territory, forced governance and territorial claims with special emphasis on the Russian-Ukrainian war and the Afghanistan crisis. The ‘United Nations Human Rights Council’ debated the civil and political liberty violations in post-colonial countries. The ‘United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice’ discussed the severity of criminal groups and their impact on the political sovereignty of a nation. ‘World Economic Forum’ emphasized the impending crisis in countries, coming up with measures to aid countries in need. The ‘Lok Sabha’ deliberated on the possibilities of the privatization of
PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) in India. The delegates came up with numerous solutions to the issues discoursed. The journalists from the International Press reported each detail with precision.

After two days of exhilarating debates, the eighth edition of PAXMUN came to an end with another choir performance of inestimable virtuosity. It culminated with the Principal appreciating the efforts of all the delegates, students and teachers involved.
