New Delhi, 23 September 2022: All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi has got its next Director in Dr M Srinivas, who is currently serving as Dean of the Employees State Insurance Company (ESIC) Medical College and Hospital in Hyderabad.
He will be succeeding Dr Randeep Guleria who has completed two terms as the AIIMS Director since 2017.
Before moving to ESIC Hospital and Medical College in Hyderabad in 2016, Dr. Srinivas was a professor in the AIIMS-Delhi Department of Paediatric Surgery.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) confirmed Dr. Srinivas’ appointment to the position of Director at AIIMS, New Delhi, according to an order from the Department of Personnel and Training dated September 9. “Ex-post facto clearance for the continuation of Dr. Randeep Guleria as Director AIIMS, New Delhi with effect from March 25, 2022 for a period of six months, or till joining of the new Director, whichever is earlier,” the official notice stated.
It is also stated that Dr Srinivas will hold the position “for a term of five years, commencing on the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until attaining the age of 65 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.”
The names of Dr Srinivas, Dean of the Employees’ State Insurance Company (ESIC) Hospital and Medical College in Hyderabad, and Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director of the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology in Trivandrum were shortlisted by a panel led by Union Health Secretary.
