24th September, 2021, Greater Noida – India International Hospitality Expo – IHE 2021 (24-27 September 2021) was inaugurated today by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament in the presence of Ms. Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary, MSME, Govt. of India, Mr. Hari Dadoo, Fair President-IHE, Shri Nirmal Khandelwal, Master Chef Shipra Khanna and Board members of IHE and IEML.

While inaugurating the Expo, Dr. Mahesh Sharma said that the physical event organized after a long gap at this venue will pave the way for many more such events and encourage hospitality industry and entrepreneurs to kick start economic activity. This venue at Greater Noida is a gift to this region and forthcoming international airport close-by would help to increase the importance and encourage business in the coming years.

Ms. Mercy Apao, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India said that it is a very important event for MSMEs as it gives them opportunity to showcase wide range of products and transact business. This will encourage many more MSMEs to work towards increasing production, employment generation and enhance exports in the future.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar said, that the rapid pace of the Covid-19 vaccination programme and the successful implementation of safety protocols across the country, gave us the confidence to plan a ‘physical’ show with its full complement of concurrent programmes, including industry dialogues, master classes and mixology workshops, ICF young chefs’ competition, and the IHE2021 Excellence Awards, which have become a quality benchmark for the industry. He thanked the hospitality industry stalwarts for taking this initiative.

He further said, the hospitality and food service sectors have taken the lead in ensuring that their associates get Covid-19 jabs for their own safety and the overall health of the industry. It is in the same spirit that we have ensured that all safety protocols laid down by the Government of India and the World Health Organization are followed.

The Expo has received overwhelming support from Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) for the industry’s rejuvenation along with leading industry associations like All India Food Processors Association, The Hotel, and Restaurant Equipment Manufacturers Association, Association of Resource Companies for Hospitality Industry, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), Purchase Professionals Forum of India, Hospitality Purchase Managers Forum (HPMF).

The venue is spread across 58 acres, that is, 2,35,000 square metres, the India Expo Mart and Centre is without doubt a ‘bio-bubble’, yet we have left nothing to chance. We have institutionalised practices such as fumigation of public spaces and toilets at regular intervals, easy access to no-touch hand sanitizers, CCTV-controlled monitoring of the body temperatures of people entering the show venue, and mandatory use of the Arogya Setu app, informed by Mr. Hari Dadoo, President –IHE2021.
