New Delhi (29/10/2022): Addressing the attendees at the special meet of the UNSC’s Counter-Terrorism Committee in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar noted that militants tend to use “tech, money and the ethos of open societies to attack freedom, tolerance, and progress”.

While shedding light on the rising misuse of technology by militants, Jaishankar opined that social media platforms and internet are now being put to use for radicalisation and for spreading propaganda to destabilize societies.

He further stated that India will be making a voluntary contribution of half a million dollars to the UN Trust Fund for Counter Terrorism this year to aid various counter-terrorism projects in different states.

According to Jaishankar, the threat of terrorism has continued to rise in Asia and Africa despite continuous efforts taken up by the UNSC over the past 20 years.
