GREATER NOIDA TENNEWS REPORTER LOKESH GOSWAMI  Earth day event was organized by School of Basic Sciences and Research, Sharda University  in continuation with April 22 nd and 23 rd in collaboration with the Ministry of Earth Sciences. The theme of this event was “Sustainable Earth. Dr. J. V Singh, Director in Ministry of Earth Sciences  (MoES) was the chief guest on the occasion, who delivered an illuminating discourse on the importance of preserving mother earth. He was delighted to see the overwhelming participation of students and organization of the event. The Chairperson of the event and Dean School of Basic Sciences and Research, Sharda University Prof Bhaskar Bhattacharya, addressed the students and emphasized on the conservation of natural resources for future use. Convener of the event Prof Rajesh Kumar briefed about the flow of event and urged students to celebrate everyday as earth day hen only the mother earth can be saved.Diverse activities related to essay writing, drawing/painting, quiz and model making competition for students from different schools of Noida and Greater Noida were carried out among school children of IX to XII. The participating schools were Apeejay International, School, Somerville School, Greater Valley School, Father Agnel School and Pragyan. Certificate of merit was awarded to students by Mr.R.P Aggarwal, Principal Advisor Sharda University and he expressed the satisfaction with this initiative. Essay writing competition was won by Abhas Gahlot of Somerville School, 2 nd prize was given to Walusha Bodriguez of Somerville School Greater Noida, 3 rd Prize was given to Daksh Gahlot,Greater Valley School, Greater Noida.The team comprising of Tanishka Gupta, Sukriti Sharma, Muskan Sharma, Khushi Dhaliya of Apeejay International School won the first prize in model making competition and second prize was won by Aditi Rana,Aditi, Riya Bhati, Suhani Juneja and Raghav Aggarwal of Apeejay International School.First prize for painting competition was won by Mansha Sukheja, second prize was won by Surendra and third prize was won by Tekram of Pragyan School. The team comprising of Saksham Sinha, Prachir Aggarwal, Aman Mishra and Soumya Ranjan Sahu of Somerville School won the first prize in Quiz competition and second prize was won by Apeejay Interntaional Schoo of team of students comprising Shivanshu Bisht, Dhruv Pandey, Harshul Thareja and Samarth Pratap Singh. Organising Secretary of the event Dr. Suman concluded the event with vote of thanks to different schools for enthusiastic participation and for showing love for mother earth. She thanked Ministry of Earth Sciences for the financial support for organizing of the event.
