EPCH COA discusses important issues related to exports of Handicrafts ahead of IHGF 2021

NEW DELHI – 27TH OCTOBER 2021 – The EPCH is organizing its 52nd IHGF Delhi Fair from 28-31 October, 2021 in physical form at the India Expo Center & Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR with SOPs as laid down by the Government of India. The show with around 1500 Indian exhibitors will display home, lifestyle, fashion, furniture and textiles items and is to be visited by overseas buyers from across the globe, buying consultants in India and Domestic Retail stores, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General-EPCH.

On the eve of Inauguration Ceremony to be held on 28th October 2021, the Team of Committee of Admiration-EPCH met today in its CoA meeting held at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida to review the preparation of the 52nd edition of IHGF Delhi Fair Autumn 2021 to be held from 28-31 October 21 at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida. The Committee of Administration-EPCH co-opted five members and invited four leading exporters as special invitees in Committee of Administration:

Coopted Members:-

  • Arshad Mir from Delhi, representing J&K and a past COA member for more than 12 years, is a leading exporter of furnishing, floor coverings and fashion accessories. He is also Chairman of Handicrafts & Carpet Sector Skill Council (HCSSC).
  • Avdesh Chandra Agarwal from Moradabad, with over 35 years of experience, is a leading manufacturer and exporter of metal artwares. He is also the General Secretary of Moradabad Handicrafts Exporters Association.
  • Mohd. Ausaf from Saharanpur, a member of Central Region Committee of EPCH, is the leading manufacturer and exporter of wooden handicrafts.
  • K. N. Tulasi Rao from Godavari (A.P), a leading exporter of Lace and Crocheted crafts with over 40 years of experience.
  • Pradip Muchhala, M/s Muchhala from Mumba, with over 40 years of experience, is top manufacturer and exporter of fashion accessories and has one of the renowned brands of scarves, stoles and shawls.

  • Simrandeep Singh Kohli from Delhi is a leading exporter of Fashion Jewellery and Accessories.
  • Rajesh Kumar Jain from Delhi is a leading exporter of multi product category and is a CA by qualification.
  • Ashok Arora from Moradabad is a leading exporter of Home Décor and Metal Product.
  • Rajat Asthana from Agra is a leading exporter of soft Stone and is also President of Agra Handicrafts Exporters Association.

Adding further, Dr. Kumar informed that members discussed important issues related to exports of handicrafts  like notices being sent on Reversal of Input Tax credit on License Sale (MEIS) treating the entire Input Tax credit claimed by the taxable person as Common Credit under Rule 42, Extension of Interest Equalization Scheme, challenges faced in export of Pashmina Shawls with particular reference to the currently adopted testing methodology and subsequent delays at customs, No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Wild Life Department for exporting bone inlay products and also chalked out strategy to achieve the target of handicrafts exports during the current financial year.

The Handicrafts exports during the Six months of current financial year from April to September, 2021-22 are Rs. 15995.73 Crores registering a growth of over 60.34% over the same period in last year.
