EPCH represents India at Hong Kong Mega Show 2024, highlighting India as prime sourcing destination

New Delhi – 25th October 2023: The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) set up an exclusive India Pavilion at the Hong Kong Mega Show, held from October 20-23, 2024, at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong. This participation emphasized India’s position as a premier global sourcing destination for diverse handicraft products. The India Pavilion was formally inaugurated by Satwant Khanalia, Consul General of India in Hong Kong, along with member exporters, master craftspersons, representatives from the National Jute Board, and fair organizers informed R. K. Verma Executive Director, EPCH.

During inaugural address, Satwant Khanalia praised efforts of the Council for bringing Indian Handicrafts to the world markets and promotion of handicrafts exports from the country. CGI also interacted with member participants and showing particular interest in live craft demonstrations by master craftspersons. CGI also interacted with member participants and assured all support in future business promotions.

Dileep Baid, Chairman – EPCH said Hong Kong Mega Show is a major marketing platform and sourcing hub for Asian products. Mega Show is in its 31st edition showcases an array of gifts and premiums products, Housewares, Lifestyle products, toys, festive supplies, and sporting goods within the Asia-Pacific region. Baid further shared that EPCH also hosted a dedicated roadshow at the event to promote the upcoming IHGF Delhi Fair Spring 2025.

R. K. Verma Executive Director, EPCH informed that Council is participating with 11 member exporters in Hong Kong Mega Show featuring a curated selection of Indian handicrafts, exclusive products display including Artmetalware, Home textiles, Home Furnishings, Leather Products, Christmas articles, Kitchen Accessories etc. Mr. Verma further informed that EPCH has setup exclusive pavilion with live demonstration of Indian Traditional Crafts by Master Craftspersons. The office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) has deputed 5 Master Craftsmen of Dhokra craft, Chattisgarh; Teracotta, Puducherry; Stone Carving, Uttar Pradesh; Thanjavur Painting, Tamil Nadu and Pattachitra, Odisha.

EPCH is a nodal agency for promoting exports of handicrafts from the India to various destinations of the world and projecting India’s image abroad as reliable supplier of high quality of handicrafts goods & services. The Handicrafts exports during the year 2023-24 was Rs. 32,759 Crores (US $ 3,956 Million) registering a growth of 9.13% in rupee term & 6.11% in dollar terms over the previous year, further informed by Mr. R. K. Verma, Executive Director-EPCH.
