Greater Noida, 9th October, 2022: The national capital region is constantly receiving heavy rainfall on October 8 and 9 and that may continue according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Following this a large section of road caved-in in Greater Noida early Sunday morning, prompting authorities to divert traffic from the region.

The incident occurred near a basement excavation of the Express Astra project in Sector 1 of Greater Noida (West). So far, no casualties have been reported since the rescue teams arrived on time.

According to Greater Noida Authority officials, a team from Work Circle 3 has arrived and begun repair services. They added that three bulldozers and five dump trucks had been dispatched to fill soil in the caved-in section.

Salil Yadav, General Manager, Projects at Greater Noida Authority, stated, “There appears to have been an incident of soil subsidence due to rain as a result of the basement excavation. The filling work will be finished by Sunday evening ”

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) stated that a notice would be issued to the concerned builder, who would be fined based on the amount spent on soil filling and road repair.
