Extortionist impersonating local SP member held in Noida

Police have arrested a person for allegedly making extortion calls by impersonating a member of the state’s ruling Samajwadi Party.

Pretending to be a local SP functionary , Imran demanded Rs 3 lakh from the assistant manager of a private company based in Noida. According to Rajkumar Mishra, deputy superintendent of police, the accused called the assistant manager three times this month, on February 3, 5 and 10, demanding Rs 3 lakh each time.

Imran, a Meerut resident, now lives in Sector 10.

“Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the accused from Sector 84 in Noida. We have also recovered the mobile phone from which the calls were made to the victim,” said Mishra.
