Family alleges Max Hospital Noida of keeping dead body hostage for faulty bill clearance!

Doctor are considered as God by patients who leave there health concerns and treatment in the hands of these professionals with trust and faith.
However the increases cases of malpractices, overcharging and negligence are making patients question the sanctity of this noble profession.
Yesterday evening an incident from MAX Hospitaln Noida has come to light where a patient named Manoj Kumar suffering from fever had lost his life after long treatment and his family members were handed a bill of six lakhs. When the family members expressed inability to deposit the bill the hospital reportedly refused to hand over the dead body to the next of kin.
Manoj Kumar aged 36 years and a resident of Khoda, Noida was admitted in MAX Hospital, sector 16, Noida with the complaint of fever. During the treatment doctors said that he had an infection in stomach and placed him on ventilator.
In course of treatment the family members had deposited 20 thousand, 30 thousand & 50 thousand consecutively making a total payment of 1 lakh Rupees.
The family alleges that they have been misinformed by hospital administration about situation of their patient and the hospital illegally kept on increasing the bill.
Increases cases of such type are raising staggering questions over trustworthiness of hospitals. Few days back a similar incident got registered from Fortis Hospital, Grugram where a girl had died during treatment of dengue and her family was handed a bill of 18 lakhs. Both Fortis and Max Hospital chain are managed by different members of same family.
Maternal Uncle of Manoj said, “When we observed that hospital is not providing the custody of body to us, we contacted the DM and City Magistrate. After intervention of them hospital agreed to deduct 1.5 lakh”.
Meanwhile Sector 20 police also reached the hospital but kept trying hard to find an amicable solution for the situation.
Later after repeated media inquiries about the same start coming in to the hospital, the local management relented and released the dead body late at night.
Attempts were made to obtain Max Hosptial’s version in this regard, however they refused to speak anything in front of camera.
A senior staff requesting anonymity however informed that the patient has been referred from Kukreja hospital and was admitted into Max after two other prominent hospitals of the city refused to take him. The patient suffered kidney failure few days back and was in intensive care before he breathed his last on Wednesday after noon around 3:00 PM.
