Greater Noida, 18 December 2024: Kamiya Jani, a renowned influencer popularly known as “Curly Tales,” recently shed light on the transformative education model of Galgotias University, a prestigious institution located in Greater Noida. During her visit, Kamiya explored how the university is redefining traditional education with innovative methodologies, collaborative learning, and technological integration.

Gone are the days of static classrooms filled with rows of benches, blackboards, and rote learning. Today, institutions like Galgotias University focus on interactive classrooms, real-time problem-solving, and hands-on experience, equipping students with skills for the real world.

Transforming Education: A Vision Realized

During her interaction with Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, Kamiya delved into the vision behind this educational transformation. Dr. Galgotia explained how the university evolved from its humble beginnings to become a pioneer in modern education.

Kamiya shared her own educational experiences, saying, “As a child, studying for me was all about reading books, memorizing, and giving exams. But here, education has taken a whole new meaning. Learning is no longer confined to books; it is now about engaging, collaborating, and evolving.”

World-Class Infrastructure and Active Learning

Spread across 52 acres in Greater Noida, Galgotias University boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, including advanced academic buildings, laboratories, libraries, and dedicated spaces for extracurricular activities. The university has adopted active learning methodologies, inspired by international institutions such as Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Kamiya visited the campus on the inauguration day of a special active learning building, an event attended by dignitaries from Nanyang Technological University. The celebrations were a testament to the university’s commitment to educational innovation.

Global Student Representation

Dr. Dhruv Galgotia proudly highlighted that the campus represents a global community, with students from 42 countries. “Every flag here represents the home country of our students. It is a matter of pride for us to foster such diversity,” he said.

The Journey of Galgotias University

Established in 2000 by Suneel Galgotia, the university began its journey with a focus on affordable education. Initially affiliated with the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), now known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, it has since grown into a multidisciplinary institution.

Starting with just a bookstore, the Galgotias family gradually expanded their vision to create one of the leading universities in the region. “We have come a long way, from selling books to building a university that shapes innovators and problem-solvers,” said Dr. Galgotia.

Innovative Classrooms

Discussing the unique classroom designs, Dr. Galgotia explained how they have moved away from traditional setups. Each classroom features round tables with six students per table and interactive touchscreens, promoting collaboration and engagement. “There’s no front or back in our classrooms. It’s all about active participation,” he said.

Drawing parallels with ancient Indian learning systems like Nalanda and Takshashila, Dr. Galgotia emphasized, “Our model of active learning revives the Gurukul spirit while integrating modern technology.”

Collaboration with Apple and Infosys

Galgotias University has also partnered with tech giants like Apple and Infosys to provide students with cutting-edge opportunities. The university houses an iOS Development Centre, one of only three in India, where students work on live projects under expert mentorship.

“This is not just about learning; it’s about creating,” Dr. Galgotia said. Students develop apps that are tested and approved for global platforms. The university is set to host India’s first Apple event, “Supercharge,” where industry experts will guide students on the latest technological advancements.

Kamiya was impressed by the tech-savvy environment, remarking, “I feel like I’m in an Apple office rather than a university!”

Suneel Galgotiya’s Vision for the Future of Education

In a recent address, Suneel Galgotia, the visionary founder of Galgotia University, emphasized the rapid pace of change in knowledge and the critical need for innovative education. He remarked, “By the time students complete their courses, much of the knowledge they have gained becomes outdated. In fact, even before they graduate, the information they are learning is already obsolete. We must train students to become thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers. We need to rebuild their minds and reshape our own ways of teaching to meet this challenge. This is the key to true education.”

Senior Galgotia also highlighted the importance of advancing teaching methodologies, sharing insights from his discussions with faculty members in Singapore. “At Galgotias University, we have established a dedicated Learning and Teaching Pedagogies department. This department is solely focused on making teaching and learning more active, engaging, and effective,” he explained.

Emphasis on Skill Development

The university places a strong emphasis on holistic skill development. According to Aradhana Galgotia, Director of Operations, skill-building is not limited to academics but extends to analytical thinking, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and personality development.

“Teaching should be less, and learning should be more,” she said, highlighting the university’s student-centric approach.

Incubation and Startup Ecosystem

Galgotias University also fosters entrepreneurship through its incubation center. Students with startup ideas receive mentorship, corporate connections, government grants, seed funding, and access to 24/7 lab facilities.

Global Endorsements for Galgotias University

The institution’s commitment to active learning has drawn praise from renowned academicians worldwide.

Emeritus Professor Richards James expressed his strong belief in the value of active learning systems, particularly for India. “I deeply believe in the transformative potential of active learning, and it’s exciting to see Galgotias University leading this charge in India,” he said.

Prof. Ian John Dixon also lauded the university, sharing his perspective on cultural differences in student experiences. “While Australian students often struggle with homesickness, Indian students exhibit unparalleled enthusiasm. At Galgotias, I see this passion reflected in every student,” he noted.

Student Experiences at Galgotias University

The students themselves echo this sentiment, emphasizing the university’s focus on practical learning and global exposure. One student shared, “The hands-on learning approach here is what I love most about Galgotias. Beyond academics, the exposure and opportunities we get are incredible.”

Recognition and Achievements

Galgotias University’s innovative approach to education has earned it significant accolades. The university has been recognized in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2025 for its exceptional academic standards and global impact. This milestone reflects its commitment to setting benchmarks in education, innovation, and international recognition.

Future-Focused Transformation

Ashwin Fernandes, Executive Director (AMESA) at QS Quacquarelli Symonds, highlighted the university’s remarkable progress. “Galgotias University is undergoing a major transformation. Its debut in the Asian University Rankings is a phenomenal achievement. The university’s new ‘G-Scale Project’ is designed to place students at the heart of the learning process, integrating experiential learning and adopting best practices from top global universities,” Fernandes explained.

Preparing Leaders of Tomorrow

Kamiya concluded her visit by saying, “Galgotias University is doing much more than just teaching. It is preparing today’s learners to be tomorrow’s leaders in an ecosystem that informs, inspires, and engages. If this is the future of Indian education, the nation’s tagline of ‘Building the Nation, Delivering Impact’ will truly resonate.”
