Fighting against Polygamy and Nikah Halala, Gautam Buddha Nagar woman receives life threat from husband

New Delhi: A 45-year-old women who has been offered Nikah Halala when she filled PIL against Nikaha Halala and Polygamy in the Supreme Court on July 23, 2018 received life threat from her in-laws, said advocate on Tuesday.

However, she has reported the matter to the police and probe is on.

Farzana Parveen, a resident of Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh on July 23 filed a PIL in the Supreme Court against Polygamy and Nikah Halala after four years of divorce.

She married to Abdul Kharid in 2012, who is a plumber by profession. A year after they divorced and her husband left Farzana and married to another women. In between, they had a daughter name Zoya.

Farzana has four sisters and her father is a tailor, who is suffering from paralysis.

Four years after the incident, she knocked the SC¬’s door and sought justice. ‘‘A day after the Court case, my husband reached home and offered Nikah Halala with a 65-year-old man. When I denied, he threaten to chop me into pieces,’’ she said while speaking to media on Tuesday at Women Press Club.

Later, her advocate, Vivek Narayan Sharma said that the matter has been referred to the constitution bench and they are hopeful for justice.
