Five held in 1.53 crore robbery case

Five people were arrested on Saturday for robbing a Hapur-based businessman of Rs 1.53 crore last month and police recovered 63.5 lakh and a stolen car from their possession. Police also claimed to have identified a house bought for Rs 40 lakh by the accused with the looted money.

Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Preetinder Singh said two of the accused landed in the police net on Saturday during checking at the Sector 45-46 crossing. Their interrogation led to the arrest of three other accomplices. “When police stopped a car for checking at the Dadri-Noida road and found a huge sum of unaccounted money in it, they arrested the two, Sanjay and Joginder, and recovered Rs 41 lakh in cash, illegal arms and cartridges from their possession,” said Singh.
