Speaking at the IAC event in Delhi today former Chief Election Commissioner of India T R Krishnamurthy emphasized about why certain election reforms are urgent need of time.

Speaking at the event he said, “Are our leaders going to accept rule of law in this country. A member of parliament can not beat an individual and walk unpunished. This is very bad precedence. Our MP’s should be  like role models”.
He further added,”People have too much expectation with election commission and I hope election commission can live up-to it”.

Speaking about political compulsions he said,”If we ask our politicians to bring these changes they are not going to do that. Honest attempt 10-20% parliament can bring change national outlook. In a constituency if a particular community is dominant usually the candidates from the same are given tickets”.

He also gave call to decentralize power, “Decentralization of power is also an important factor that has to be done. We need amendment in the panchayat Raj model, the corruption is prevalent in Delhi and state capital because it has too much of vested power concentrated at specific place. We also need power to recall in certain cases”.
