New Delhi (India), April 23, 2023: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik for the third time as part of an alleged insurance scam investigation, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Speaking at the India Today Karnataka Roundtable, Shah stated that the CBI summons were not related to Malik’s allegations against the BJP-led government, as reported by ANI.
“According to my information, he has been called a second or third time. An investigation is underway, some new information or proof must have come to light and he has been called for the third time. There is no truth in this that he has been called for speaking against us,” Shah said.
Regarding Malik’s allegations against the BJP-led government, Shah stated, “Why these things (have) come to mind after leaving us”. He also mentioned the decision to appoint Satyapal Malik as Jammu and Kashmir Governor, stating, “If someone keeps changing attitude and form from time to time, what can we do, people should understand.”
Malik had previously alleged the involvement of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary in the alleged insurance scam. He was asked to provide clarification to the CBI regarding the matter, according to ANI.
“CBI has asked me to come to their Delhi office to give clarification regarding the alleged insurance scam in J-K on April 27 or 28,” Malik said.
Additionally, Amit Shah expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections, stating, “We are confident of winning more than 130 seats in Karnataka. We have the support of all communities in the state.”
