New Delhi, 21st June 2023: Employees are suing Twitter for tens of millions of dollars in incentives that they claim were not paid despite promises.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in San Francisco on Tuesday, claims that management, including former finance chief Ned Segal, “repeatedly” told employees that 50% of their 2022 incentives would be paid in the months running up to billionaire Elon Musk’s acquisition of the business.

Mark Schobinger, the lead plaintiff, was Twitter’s senior director of compensation until last month. The plaintiff’s lawyers are attempting to get class action status on behalf of current and former Twitter employees.

According to Shannon Liss-Riordan, a counsel for the plaintiffs, the incentives owed by Twitter are in the “tens of millions of dollars.”

Twitter, which has dismantled its media relations division, did not respond to a comment request with anything more than an automated response.

Twitter is currently in a whirlwind of lawsuits. Several lawsuits have been filed against the company by former employees, as well as for unpaid rent and other liabilities.
