Foundation stone laying of Noida airport & Film City set to be delayed amid Covid scare

23rd April, Greater Noida / Noida: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the Noida International Airport and film city, which was expected around 15th of May, is set to be delayed due to the Covid situation getting worse with each passing day.

NIAL had set a target of making the airport operational by December 2023, but delay in construction work is expected to hamper the completion of the project as well.

The foundation stone for both of these mega-ambitious projects was to be laid by the prime minister himself along with the chief minister of the state, after the Bengal poll results, on 2nd May. But at a time when many of the government officers are falling prey to the Covid infection, the foundation stone laying ceremony would not have been logical.

Media reports say that the construction of the airport won’t start until the country recovers from the deteriorating Covid situation.

All the paperwork to start the first phase of the airport work has been completed. The NOC to start construction has also been received from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (Bakas). For film city, the the Yeida officials had recently prepared a bid document and sent it to the state government for approval.
