Four children among six dead in #Punjab accident

Chandigarh, April 13: Four children were among the six people killed when a speeding jeep rammed into a house in a village near Punjab’s Jandiala town on Wednesday, police said.

Police officials, quoting eyewitnsses, said that the jeep driver lost control while moving at high speed.

The incident took place in Dashmesh Nagar village on the Jandiala-Mehta road, 225 km from here.

3 Shri Anandpur Sahib pilgrims killed in accident

Hoshiarpur, Apr 13: Three pilgrims, two of them women, were killed and 48 injured when the tractor-trailer they were travelling in to Sri Anandpur Sahib overturned near Shekhowal, about 50 Kms from here today, police said.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals of Garhshankar and Ropar but two of the critically injured were later referred to PGI, Chandigarh, they said.

Police said the pilgrims were going to the holy shrine of Sri Anandpur Sahib from village Sathiala in Beas.

According to SHO, Garhshankar police station, Kewal Singh, the deceased were identified as Sarbjit Kaur (50), wife of Heera Singh of Bansiala; and Mandeep Kaur (26), wife of Gurvinder of Sathiala in Beas.

The third deceased has not been identified yet.

When they reached near Shekhowal village, a semi-hilly area, one of the tyres of the tractor-trailer drove over a big boulder leading to the accident.
