Galgotias University hosts Seminar on “Stress Management” for Lifestyle Improvement

Stress management and lifestyle are critical factors for the well-being and academic performance of university students. This report examines the causes of stress among students, effective stress management techniques, and the impact of lifestyle choices on overall health and academic success.

University students face numerous challenges, including academic pressure, social adjustment, and financial constraints. These challenges often increase stress levels, which can negatively affect their mental and physical health. Understanding and managing stress, along with adopting a healthy lifestyle, is essential for students’ academic and personal advancement.

Under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor, Galgotias University invited Rajesh Kumar to interact with the students. The event was coordinated by Colonel Sumit Duggal and organized by Dr. Shikha Srivastava. Lieutenant Gargi Tyagi and her NCC student team played a significant role in the smooth conduct of the program.

Students from SCSE also participated in the session. MAAsterG provided our students with some strategies and suggestions for stress management and well-being:

Time Management:
* Prioritize tasks: Use a planner or digital tool to organize your schedule. Prioritize tasks based on deadlines and importance.
* Break tasks into smaller steps: Divide large tasks into smaller, manageable tasks to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Relaxation Techniques:
* Deep breathing and meditation: Practice deep breathing exercises or meditation to calm your mind.
* Progressive muscle relaxation: This involves tensing and then slowly relaxing different muscle groups to reduce physical tension.
Physical Activity:
* Exercise regularly: Incorporate regular physical activity into your routine. This can be as simple as walking, jogging, or joining a sports club.
* Yoga and stretching: These activities can help reduce stress and improve flexibility and concentration.
Social Support:
* Stay connected: Maintain relationships with family and friends. Talking to someone you trust about your stress can provide relief.
* Join groups or clubs: Participate in campus activities or join clubs of interest to build a support network.

A feedback session was held after the program, and it was observed that most students expressed the need for such programs to be held regularly at the university for better mental health and overall well-being.
