Galgotias University to Host Prestigious Smart India Hackathon 2024 (Hardware Edition)

Today at a Press Conference, Galgotias University announced its selection as one of only 13 institutions nationwide to host the prestigious Smart India Hackathon-2024 (SIH) Hardware Edition. This flagship event, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, AICTE, SBI Foundation, and I4C, underscores the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and empowering young minds to solve critical national challenges.
The five-day event will witness the participation of 40 teams from 9 states, comprising approximately 300 students who will tackle 7 problem statements posed by three prominent ministries: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ministry of Jal Shakti, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)
Each problem statement is a real-world challenge, providing students an invaluable opportunity to apply their creativity and technical skills to craft innovative solutions.
Prof. K. Mallikharjuna Babu, Vice Chancellor of Galgotias University, shared, “Out of 51 institutions across India selected for hosting SIH-2024 editions, only 13 are designated for the Hardware Edition. Galgotias University is privileged to be one of them, reaffirming our leadership in academic excellence and innovation.”
Prof. Avadhesh Kumar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, highlighted the university’s experience in hosting prior editions of SIH, stating, “Our track record in organizing both hardware and software editions of the hackathon positions us uniquely to deliver an exceptional experience for participants and mentors.”
Nitin Gaur, Registrar of Galgotias University, emphasized the comprehensive logistical arrangements in place, stating, “We have ensured all preparations, including transportation, accommodation, and event management, are seamlessly executed to provide a world-class experience to participants, evaluators, and mentors.”
The students of Galgotias University are also playing a pivotal role in the success of the event. Prof. Meenakshi Sharma, Director IQAC and Nodal Centre Head shared, provided insights into the extensive planning and coordination behind the event. “We have formed 15 dedicated committees comprising 105 faculty members and 300 student volunteers to ensure the smooth execution of this event. These committees include BOM & Venue Management, Registration, Branding, Document Support, Media, FabLab, Accommodation, IT Support, MoE, Jury & Evaluator, Sports & Yoga, Health, Food, Maintenance, and Social Media.”
Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Core Committee Incharge, said that “Over 300 student volunteers from societies like Bio-Innovators Guilds for Sustainability (BIGS), Student Council, NSS, NCC, and Sports Council will assist the teams, ensuring every participant is well-supported throughout the event.”
