Galgotias University’s School of Agriculture Wins Institute of Excellence Award at 8th National Youth Convention

School of Agriculture, Galgotias University has been honoured with the Institute of Excellence award during the 8th National Youth Convention, themed “New Perspectives for Sustainable Agriculture & Livelihood Security,” held on August 22-23, 2024. The event is being jointly organized by the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University; the All India Agricultural Students Association (AIASA); and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at BHU, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Hritik Ranjan, BSc (Hons) Agriculture Final Year student of Galgotias University, received the Student of the Year- North Zone award. The nominations were made on an all-India basis.

The Jury for the awards was headed by Padma Bhushan, Prof RB Singh, Former Chancellor, Central Agriculture University, Imphal.

The award was presented by the Minister of Agriculture in UP Govt., Surya Pratap Shahi, during the event. Minister Shahi commended the remarkable achievements of the awarded institutions in agricultural education, youth empowerment, and community engagement. The other dignitaries present were Dr. R.C. Agrawal, DDG (Agri. Education), ICAR; Dr. R. G. Agarwal, Chairman Emeritus, Dhanuka Agritech Pvt Ltd and Dr. M. Prabakhar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, Nuziveedu Seed Ltd.

With a strong focus on sustainable practices and collaboration with industry partners, the School of Agriculture, Galgotias University also earned Platinum Status in the QS-I GUAGE for 2023-24 earlier this year.

Dean, School of Agriculture, Dr Sahadeva Singh delivered an invited talk on Policy perspectives on Sustainable Agriculture. 3 papers have published from the  School in special issue of International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Biotechnology released on the occasion of 8th National Youth Convention.

Suneel Galgotia, Chancellor of Galgotias University congratulated all the stakeholders and emphasized that the University is committed to nurturing future leaders in agriculture and contributing to sustainable practices that benefit society as a whole.

Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, expressed his appreciation for this achievement. He said that this  award reflects the commitment of the University towards fostering youth empowerment and community engagement.
