Ganesh Utsav celebrations in full swing, politicians and officials take blessings of Bappa at City Park

Greater Noida (07/09/2019) : The 10 day-long festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with much joy and fervor in different parts of India. In Greater Noida also celebrations at City Park started with installation of Lord Ganesh idols in a huge pandal set up for the occasion.



On the first day of the occasion, Dhirander Singh, MLA, Jewar, reached the venue and seek the blessings of Bappa. During the 10 day celebrations, many senior officials CEO of Greater Noida Authority Narander Bhooshan and SP rural Ranvijay Singh marked their attendance before Bappa and took blessings.

Ten News interacted with Chandrashekhar V.Garge popularly known as ‘Kaka’ among the Greater Noida residents. He is the man behind the mega celebration that has now completed one and a half decade.

Interacting with Ten news he said, “It was Bal Ganga Dhar Tilak who in 1984 transformed the household worshipping of Ganesh into a grand public event- Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav. This year we are having 10 day celebration and on 11th day the Idol will immersed with a procession. The theme of the event is Jal Shakti and considering the same we will be immersing the idol in manmade pond as directed by district administration. We are also urging visitors and exhibitors not to use plastic in any manner.”

What started as a humble private event has now become a full-fledged ‘Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav’- probably the biggest in the district. At its current place of organization, the festival is marked with 10 days of cultural extravaganza. Devotees throng in hundreds and thousands to witness an impeccable blend of Maharashtrian culture with North Indian touch.

This year the celebrations started on 2nd of September and will go on till 12th September. So don’t miss the chance and come take the blessings of Vighnaharta at this make shift ‘mini-maharashtra’ of Greater Noida.
