The event, titled “The Nexus Imperative: Environment, Public Health and Policy for a Sustainable Future” (EHP Nexus 2026), is being conducted with the support of the Indian Council of Social Science Research under the Ministry of Education.

The conference aims to bring together academicians, policymakers, researchers, and domain experts on a common platform to deliberate on the interconnected challenges of environmental degradation, health risks, and governance. The inaugural session witnessed the presence of prominent dignitaries from academia, administration, and public life. He emphasized that sustainability must be viewed as a strategic priority for safeguarding national resources and long-term stability.

Among the distinguished speakers, Prateek Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Technological University, spoke about the role of advanced technologies in environmental governance. He highlighted how artificial intelligence and data-driven systems can significantly improve monitoring mechanisms and policy implementation.

Praveen Ramdas, National Joint Organising Secretary of Vigyan Bharati, stressed the value of integrating traditional knowledge systems with modern scientific approaches to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Conference Convener Prof. Chander K. Singh highlighted that platforms like EHP Nexus are essential for fostering dialogue among academia, government bodies, and civil society. During the inaugural session, dignitaries also unveiled the official conference souvenir, which includes messages from experts, research abstracts, and the vision of the conference. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Banerjee, Head of the Department of Environmental Science.
