Gautam Buddha University Signs MoU with Rain Forest Research Institute

Greater Noida News (05/05/2026): In a significant step towards strengthening academic and research partnerships, Gautam Buddha University (GBU) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI), Jorhat, a premier institute under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education.

The agreement aims to promote collaboration in key areas such as research, academic exchange, technology development, capacity building, and resource sharing. Both institutions will also work together on extension activities and explore opportunities for joint initiatives in fields of mutual interest.

As part of the MoU, GBU and RFRI will identify priority areas for collaboration and develop structured work plans, including project-specific agreements. The partnership will ensure adherence to institutional policies, legal frameworks, and ethical standards. Additionally, both organizations will appoint designated coordinators to streamline communication and facilitate smooth execution of collaborative activities. The agreement also emphasizes joint efforts in securing external funding and preparing grant proposals.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rana Pratap Singh described the MoU as a forward-looking initiative that will open new avenues for students and faculty members. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would lead to impactful research projects and contribute meaningfully to societal development.

Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, Director of RFRI, who visited GBU from Jorhat to formalize the agreement, highlighted the potential of this partnership. He noted that the institute’s expertise in forestry and biodiversity could play a crucial role in joint research efforts. He further pointed out that areas such as medicinal plants, bamboo and cane studies, biodiversity assessment, and the development of forest-based products could become key focus domains under this collaboration.

With this agreement, GBU continues to expand its academic network by building strategic alliances with leading research institutions. The university reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing learning, research, and innovation opportunities for its academic community through such meaningful partnerships.
